I have a Detroit in CXL Bison is over 2 years old .. break in was very quick TBH and creasing started almost immediately. Because of the surface finish of CXL Bison it looks much more worn than CXL Steer and FQHH and ages much quicker. The only downside of the hide is that the surface can...
Great jacket .. and great fit. The Warhawk is awesome ( CXL without the hand glazing) a little bit duller but develops a really nice patina over time ( no less time in break in though :( ) I have a 2 year old custom jacket in the same Vintage Warhawk Burgundy and it's ageing very nicely showing...
:) armour fitted .... just finishing my quilted liner (40g thinsulate) ( it was a zip in liner from my Scott Leathers Cafe Racer ..... zips removed and awaiting matching 15mm snaps to match up with the jacket).
Fit with the armour ( Forcefield ) is spot on the only minor issue being slightly...
I snapped it up :) ..... looks like I've got a new bike jacket, armour waiting ( forcefield) ...... now the question is to "Streamliner" or not to "Streamliner" :)
Thanks Rob ... looking forward to it's arrival .
It's funny how certain features on certain jackets get rave reviews .. and the same features on others get slated .....
e.g.
One Piece Back
On an A2 .... an absolute prerequisite and a feature which almost defines the jacket ( no fit issues incidentally if it's cut right )
On a Cafe Racer...
Wearing them on the bike ( Just MHO guys ... and based on personal experience )
Collar
- I'm not a fan of the single button ( Buco style ) lets in a draught and presses into the throat OR the double stud flap option It's OK fastened but unfastened it just flapps about and is a pain.
- The...
Funilly enough I just pushed the button on a new Cafe Racer ... having moved a fewf jackets on ( including my Rush Vanson, Beck and Vanson Cafe Racers ).
My thoughts re. yours ...
1. I have no experience of IH jackets made in Japan .. but you won't go wrong with LW or Aero they do fit neat...
I too have a Wested Raiders jacket in Goat ( @ 2007 ) .... it's stayed a favourite while Aero, Eastman and BK goatskin jackets have been sold on. The reasons are three fold :
1. The Wested goatskin is a really unusual colour .. not seal and not tan ... sort of in the middle like milk Chocolate...
Have to agree with most here ....however .... the collar latch is a very different beast to the " throat" latch or indeed a "cuff" latch.
Collar latch or straps - as fitted to the ANJ-4, G-1, Irvin, B-3, D-1 M-422A etc ... is used primarilly to keep the collar verticle to keep the user warm and...
That's a STUNNING jacket .. and I'd be all over it like a rash if the USD exchange rate against the £ wasn't so rubbish :(
The tartan is MacLennan / Logan ( both are the same) .....
Good luck with the sale ..... or if you fancy a trade ... let me know ..... :)
Aero Leather Clothing Company - Beacon, NY

The Aero Motorcycle Jacket - aka "Marlon Brando" ... a significantly poorer version of this in terms of replication, a GREAT jacket, just a poorer replica ... $945 ( the indian Ranger $1000 )
Goodwear's Californian Racer ..... $1549
Himel "Heron" $2000 ( the Bison A-1 is $2250 )
.... I have to...
I've no idea why deerskin isn't as popular ... it is incredibly durable, very wear resistant and has a much softer hand than steer or horse .... it's GREAT leather. It's my hide of choice for M/C gloves and I've a couple of jackets .. one by Chevignon in undyed "natural" colour and the RL Copy...
Sorry John .. should have clarified .. the Fenland is my FAVOURITE sheepskin and by density I mean actual density ( Kg/m3) .... there is plenty of wool / fleece it's certainly not "thin" and the skin/hide part is not thin or insignificant ... but it's lighter per M2/M3 than the others .... the...
I think the market for a "Accurate Repro" ... is significantly smaller than the market for a "Genuine Irvin"
I've bought a few Aviation Leathercraft Irvins and they're really well made jackets .. modern fit, excellent sheepskin and incredibly warm with the option for pockets or not. The...
Didn't see the abusive posts ( but hey .. I'm sure those who can will edit out the "offensive" bits ... that's what they do to mine :) )
Thankfully - as far as I recall - no-one ever died of being offended !!
Did see many requests and many replies ...... no idea of the motive, but the info...
