Glad you asked! I had intended to mention this, but forgot. I’ve bought many different models of ATF jackets. 2nd Model Tanker, m-43, m-41, B-10, N-1 and 1st Model Deck Jacket. In my experience, only the M-41 runs true to size. All the rest run a size large. I wear a size 48 original G-1...
Not today. But it sure blew holes in the ocean this past weekend. Thank goodness it stayed just above freezing. We got a lot of rain. Folks just fifty miles inland from us got a lot of that nasty white stuff.

Been meaning to post a photo of this jacket. It’s a 1st Model USN deck jacket...my latest purchase from At The Front. I got it as a “Deal of the Day” and its proven to be well worth it’s price. The shell is blue jungle cloth...the interior lining is fleece...and there’s a layer of nylon in...
Obviously, the question posed by the OP is very general. If the “non-white” person is Black. And if that person is trying to dine in a white owned tavern or restaurant. And if that restaurant is located in the 1850s American South...then he would almost certainly be denied service...
It is September and it is still hot in coastal North Carolina. Very hot, actually. And as I write this, we’re staring down the barrel of an approaching hurricane. So the weather here doesn’t put me in mind hot chocolate and fuzzy wool sweaters. But autumn on the southern coast brings other...
Hi Crawlinkingsnake. I used to live up in that section of the coast. My first job as a prosecutor was in the 1st District, which covers Kill Devil Hill. But in 1994 I moved south to the New Bern area...which is my home district. But if I was still up there, I’d darn sure join you for a beer...
Anyone who’s ever read my posts here probably knows that my love for hats is deep but narrow. I only like Open Roads and Panamas. So, to me, this hat is the best of both worlds...it’s a Panama OR. It isn’t straw...or shantung. It’s genuine Panama. The only place I know of that sells them is...
I’ve been painting and repairing our front deck, off and on, beteeen rain showers. We live on a river, so our house is elevated...and so is the deck. I was standing on a ladder, balanced about seven feet in the air, when I noticed one of the neighborhood kids had dropped by to watch me paint...
Fresh seafood is finally coming into season, so I made a Friday night, shrimp etouffee for Jackie and two long-time friends. I’ve only made it once before and that was in a cooking course in New Orleans. There, a chef watched over me to keep me from screwing up. So this was my first time...
I’m afraid the jacket wearing season is finally coming to a close here in eastern North Carolina. It was a nice, long, cold one, and I wore almost every jacket in my collection at least once. But I believe we’re now in the short rows. I still wear an A-2 over a thin t-shirt most mornings when...
