I’ve owned three Aero Sheene jackets. These are the cafe racer, plus a collar, so exactly what you’re looking at. one has gussets & the two others did not.
In my experience, there’s no discernible difference if overall fit. if anything, the gussets add thickness where the leather doubles up...
Have you had a chat to the team at Aero?
Honestly, this is the best place to start - they know their patterns better than anyone ;-)
Or alternately, contact @Carrie @ Thurston Bros. and have a chat. Carrie is on your side of the world & can get a fit jacket to you in no time at all.
The difference between the indoors & outdoors shots are quite notable. The outdoor shots have a much richer colour palette. More depth & redish tones. which is closer to reality?
The requested measurements were;
Shoulder 19”
P2P 23”
Sleeve 26”
Back 27”
As for the leather specs, only Holly / Aero could really comment. It’s certainly their CXLFQHH product, just MUCH more fun to wear.
I really think it should be added as an option. Honestly, ready to wear right out of the...
I think you’d be pleasantly surprised. I also have 2 Sheene’s at present & have sold another one on. This style is just such a different cut. There’s no need to add anything to the body to get a comfortable fit. And the final product is still slim fitting.
just size up & double check the other...
It’s interesting, I was thinking something similar about the sleeve length too. Then I realised that they’re just fine. This style has the sleeves cut very slim. If I undo the zips, they fall another inch or so to just above my thumb. They’re only riding near the wrist due to the zips being done...
Colour? Simply black.
It just happens to be a stunning black hide. Perfectly malleable, perfectly weighted, wonderfully grained.
I'm approximately 6' 2" & have a chest around 43", but practically always wear a sized 42 jacket.
Weight.... hmmm more that it should be :-(
The latest custom Aero has arrived.
I've played around with the Aero cafe racer pattern across 3 jackets now & frankly haven't found 'the one'. The cut is just slightly not suited to my shape.
Enter the Board Racer.....
This is Aero's stock-standard Board Racer pattern (length ordered to fit)...
Just love the idea. Although most of my jackets wouldn’t see 12 hours wear in a year......
Weekend wear only, over winter which amounts to about maybe 8 weeks here in Sydney.
Currently have 6 leather jackets & have no idea why.
In all honesty @blaupulp , spend some time searching Thurston Bro's thread here & look for "Aero Seven" (search exactly as I've just typed it, including the " ").
There are tons of examples. I think you'll achieve the look you want, but with the pattern that will be very complementary & aligned...
If you want a Highwayman, then this is pretty close to perfect.
If you want a slim-fit casual civilian jacket, then either get a Sheene (cafe racer base) or a Seven (board racer base).
This is how the highwayman is - it's just a boxy 50's design, even in the premier cut.
Stuffing around with...
It’s actually a heavily modified Aero Sunburst.
Probably my most comfortable jacket to be honest.
