Can you tell me about your belt snap hate? I’ve got a 618hh going back to Schott for a collar replacement (after July 17th, they’re on break) and was thinking about getting a belt snap. The buckle is kind of heavy to be flopping around when I’m walking with the belt undone. Am I being lame for...
Perhaps if he’d mentioned that he was a flipper in post #1 instead of post #38 it could have cut down on some of the confusion. Up until that point some were still going on the premise that he’d found his forever jacket and wanted to make sure he paid enough for it…
A classic tale! After quite a CR parade I’m down to two….a Schott 141 that I want to turn into a 641hh and a pretty cool vintage USA one that I need to figure out the brand before I sell it. I’m digging the horsehide crosszips and desperately need one with a d-pocket.
Very true. To expand on this, the only time that I ever think about the price paid for something….is when I’m unsatisfied with it. When I’m happy and the item is all it was supposed to be, it’s like the financial aspect of it never happened. It’s strange.
There may be some good advice for ole Chilli mixed into this. . I’ve had a lot of fun buying and selling jackets on eBay and learning about different makers, styles and finding which ones look best on me and what makes me feel good when I put it on. Most have been vintage or slightly newer and...
I look at this group like the dyed in the wool fans of a sports team. They live, eat and breath the undying love of the team and watch every game like it might be their last. It is all about loyalty, history and tradition. As the old saying goes, “there’s no I in team”.
Others gamble on...
Yes! Great point. Despite being kind of form fitting, the cut of both my 141 and 118 have a nice shoulder width and I can see how it plays into the total wingspan.
Schott jackets just seem to fit good right off the rack. As we’ve discussed before, I agree that the most important Schott...
I have a fairly recent 141 in a size 42. The sleeves are just shy of 24 inches which is kind of short (on paper) for jacket designed and marketed as a riding jacket).
I have pretty long arms but with the cut of the jacket, action back and footballs....it all seems to work and looks very good...
My “sweet deal“ 618hh arrived on Friday. Other than a glaring issue with a pretty thin, shiny, crinkly piece of leather that was used on the collar, the rest of the jacket is downright impressive (materials and condition wise). Fit-wise there were a few issues which has led me back to the 613sh...
I‘ve been really close to buying a Branded jacket many times but have been talked out of it by the rather tall rounded kidney panels that seem to find its way onto many of their cafe/brando/motorcyle styles. Everything besides this one feature seems really well done.
I like this more compact style of arm gusset. It creates some extra mobility while leaving the style of the jacket relatively intact. Some designs seem to almost overwhelm the back. Good score!
I’ve had winning bidders not pay or respond to messages so I’ve offered the item to the second place bidder. Ebay didn’t compel me to do this, nor do they seem to crack down on bidders who waste your time with winning bids who don’t seem to have any intention of actually buying the item.
Grabbed a Schott 618hh (I think) for a GREAT price on eBay. Collar looked a little funky (crinkly) in a couple of pics but the rest of it looked like it hadn’t been worn much. Easy catch and release if the era or condition aren’t quite what I’m looking for.
I’m actually thinking this jacket could look better still in person. Not knocking anyone‘s staging or photography skills, but my EBay listings look better than these new Stallion shots. Can’t wait for one of the regulars on here to get their’s for some proper pics and a review.
