Welcome to the forum. A Sheene in Dark Seall Vicenza is a great choice and I think would suit your purposes.
I'm a Sheene owner myself and agree with most of the points raised above.
My spec list:
-no kidney panels, no gussets, no windflap - no actual need for those if not riding (gussets...
The price is lowered to €342 (offers welcomed).
I contacted the seller for the measurements and got a quick reply:
Sleeves: approx. 67 cm
Pit to pit: 64 cm
Back: 60 cm
Shoulders: 50 cm
Unfortunately too short for me. Someone grab a bargain!
Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
Perhaps part of some kind of a collection made for some German vendor? Original flight jackets maybe: https://www.original-flightjackets.com/
A great deal for the price anyways.
What I've been told, the Thunder Bay line was a more affordable option to Aero's standard line. Some experiments, such as quilted lining and non-standard hides were used in Thunder Bay line jackets.
For 180 quid a great deal anyways.
Thanks @handymike. Mine is exactly somewhere between brown and burgundy. Looks mostly like brown with some depth and extra attitude. Sunlight brings out the reddish hue but without a hint of blue, so there is no purple tones in the color. I try to take some pics outside when the jacket is more...
Handymike beat me to it.
Anyways, the Sheene is a Cafe racer with a spread collar and it's quite heavily tapered indeed. Board racer with a collar is called the Seven, and as you know, the cut is more straight towards the hem.
I went for Aero's cordovan, i.e. burgundy, for my latest jacket, a...
I think the retail is currently over the 2,5k mark: https://ninelivesbrand.com/collections/new-and-restocks/products/the-9lives-riders-jacket
+ the condition was not actually "used" either.
Yup, battered hides are not (meant to be) uniform; the tone varies "consistently" throughout the hide because it's broken and, indeed, battered.
"Mismatching" for me refers to mismatch between panels, such as different shades and graininess of the hides used. My battered tan Aero has next to...
My thoughts exactly. Looks too busy for me in its current form, especially in tone-tone, but without the belt and epaulets would def do the job.
I like battered mid-weights as well. My Premier Work Coat is of battered tan and shows wear nicely only after half year of use. The hide is versatile...
Thanks for the new pics. The jacket looks great, especially the hide vis-á-vis the stiching, and the fit seems to be spot-on for your taste/use. Also the mix of diverse elements add uniqueness to it.
You can get the sleeves fixed if you want, but all in all I think it's a great find.
I think, it's a bit of mix and match. A Seven maybe, but with different back construction (no center seam & kidney panels). Also the sleeves are different to the Cafe racer -based Sheene.
The fit in general looks fine to me, but the sleeves are an odd inch too long as they don't come down nice...
Thank you, and thank you. Been into leather jackets for a longer period and also lurked the forum for a while, but decided finally to register.
The Sheene is my newest Aero, and still in its break-in phase. My other, much loved Aeros are 1920s Premier Work Coat in battered tan midweight HH and...
