The problem I have is due to my nose being broke so many times, even if the hat was dead on in line with the sweatband and crease in hat all in line it would look off center on me, so I have to crease my hats off center a little so the crown ( crease ) looks lined up with my nose, as Dean says...
When I went to her web site, there was a nice photo, of a hat shop, at least inside one, showing alot of hats on the walls stacked up, is this the same when you went there? or is this really not, by looking at the site they seem to have alot of hats.

I have to step in and say that most of the tools he has built came from some of my tools that he used to make copies from or I sent and ask him to make, the band blocks and parts for the formillions all were made when I asked him to rework mine.
Mark does outstanding work, I was very lucky to...
Same here on my own hats I always place a few stiches to hold it in place,,
Also saw a hat on time that had used a straight pin and push thru the hat band and into the hat, once in side the hat he folded the pin over real nice and tight, worked real good and I never saw those pins in the hat...
Kim, can wear her new hat next year when we take her on the snipe hunt, this way she will be blending in, so the snipes should run pretty near her to catch.

Stop in Shorty's there in the stock yards, she is a custom hat maker and can and would be glad to work with you on making a nice dress hat.
Just because she is a western hatter mostly should not fool you about working with her on your dress hat needs.

That summer will be in my mind for many more years.

Hot water will work, but be careful about the brim pulling in, meaning you may lose some brim.
The hat body plants use a ton of hot and cold water on the hat bodies, but they have finger blockers to pull the brims out when they stretch the crowns.

You will need a block that is the height you want the crown to be, and use hot steam and pull like hell to pull it onto the block , and I mean pull, plus you will need a hatters cord to tie it off at the brim break.
If the hat body is rabbit it's not too hard, if its 100% beaver they are even...
