Have you seen the Comet?

I've been to the factory in Fallriver a couple times, and I think the models are staff and family members. They really are a tiny operation and those jacket prices have in no way kept up with inflation. I can't imagine they have any kind of advertising budget.
This is my favorite Vanson. It's chassis is the same as the Star jacket, (it's the top half of the flat track suit). BUT it has exterior hand warmer pockets in addition to the normal two inside pockets. In addition to the double leather shoulders, it has football shaped leather reinforcement in...
Can you tell me more about the measurements versus the tag size? How are they supposed to fit when worn?
In the catalog close up it looks like it's over the guys hips almost like the tourist trophy, like its a cropped jacket style in 3/4 length?
Holy smokes! Speedway looks great! They look simple, well made, good weight canvas.... I think you've found it. AND they make over trousers, I have a pair of overtrousers from Driza, but these have a double seat, leather wear points...
Thank you!
Hi Peter! The Dakar is a Hein Garicke, not a vanson, but its a great coat with it's own following. If I'm succesfull in shrinking myself out of it, I'll definately let you know
Be warned it wears HOT. It seals well and its a little poofy, so it traps a lot of dead air space inside. It has an...
This is GREAT! Thank you!
Here is my Vintage Paris Dakar coat, it’s a leather version of what I’m after but in oilskin. This is a size 44” and I’m wearing over a medium Vanson Ventmax armored mesh shirt (that I can JUST barely squeeze into!)
This is the ventmax,
Here is the short...
Belstaff and Barbour don't make'm like they used tah...
I'm trying to track down a classic four pocket/belted/buckled throat, buckled wrists, waxed cotton riding jacket. This is for wind and drizzle protection on a bike, I know the limitations of waxed canvas. I'll be wearing it over a Ventmax...
I think it really depends on use. If you’re buying a Langlitz, it’s to wear on a bike going upwards of 70mph day in and day out in desert heat, freezing cold and pouring rain. That leather will need a lot more conditioning than a Himel Bros Chinook that’s worn in cars and trains, and goes on...
Hey guys,
I KNOW there used to be a chart with the actual jacket measurements of Vanson coats.
All the coats are made from three or four chassis, the sport rider, the cross zip, street jackets, and maybe one more? Touring coats? It had each size, the front, back, sleeve, shoulder, pit to pit...
Hello!
It’s been a while since I posted, but I have a U.S. army trench coat question that’s been driving me nuts!
I have two trenches, (OD-7 overcoat, field) you know, the one with the button out wool bathrobe liner. One dated 1946, and the other 1953.
The ‘46 dated coat is almost TWICE as...
A question about the crown heights in hat bodies...
Do any manufacturers or sellers list crown height of the hat body before it's been bashed? I'm looking for a taller hat and I can't seem to get this dimension.
I wear a 60cm in a strong oval shape, and either I have an egg shaped dome or...
Update!
I had FOUR pieces of foam in this hat to get it snug. I've worn it in some sleety snow, in some rain, and I've even worn it on a couple of.runs.
The result!
I've removed three of the four spacers! It's DEFINITELY getting smaller! Even if I end up having to keep that final sizer in the...
My first hat was litefelt crushable from baileys, loved it. Till I got my Akubra. Kept wearing the litefelt till it eventually shrank too much.
But I can't bring my Akubra on a bike and wear it over my helmet head like I could with the crusher. So recently I picked up another crusher, a...
I just got a cheap and cheerful crushable Stetson Ashley! I don't have a lot of hats, and most of mine are Western palm leaves I wear for hiking and bushcrafting. My "nicest" hat is an Akubra Coober Pedy I was gifted by a friend of a friend. One day I'll find something nice, but it's not today...
Lol! It’s been three years, and I’m in NYC now, but the Vanson Balboa is still goin’ strong! It’s almost been too mild to wear it, it’s THAT warm! But it’s gotten a “nice jacket, man!” while walking through Harlem!
