I'd love to find some wide toe box/zero heel drop boots that look semi classic to wear with my jackets. They wouldn't even have to be minimalist. A hard flat sole would be fine! I've been in minimalist shoes long enough that my toe spread gets crushed in any traditional boot.
I ride a...
Hey all,
I recently picked up a Barbour International A7, the McQeen trials coat! It is massively cool, and I found a nice and generous size 50 that lets me wear it over any riding gear I like. From the minimal armored shirt up to a full on leather Vanson it covers it all!
Only issue is...
It almost looks like the front panels have been replaced, but the wind seal behind the zipper is the same as the back, so I think it's a design choice.
It looks awesome, I'd rock that jacket all day.
There are some contrasting paneled jackets out there, I think I've seen a Black with...
I picked up another Challenger, a Night Challenger with reflective piping. It's older than the one I posted about. It has the "wet clay" leather and the Delrin front zipper. And it's smaller! It's the same nominal size, both are 46" but the shoulder to shoulder on the old one is 23" and the more...
My Barbour A7 arrived in the post a few days ago, here is a terrible selfie of me wearing it out in NYC today in 23F (-5C)weather. I'm happy to report it's dry to the touch and odor free . I'm wearing with jeans, a T-shirt, and a wooly sweater I was perfectly comfortable. I've added a picture of...
Yup, zipper on the back seam or set in on the front of the sleeve. Definitely two different placements. One of those sets of photos is older, and I’d guess it’s the floating jacket pictures. There are closeups of the set in front facing sleeve zip, so my moneys on that one. But good to double check.
Kangaroo hide, seconded.
My Vanson bias aside, any heritage grade leather jacket will be a lifetime jacket if you care for it. Thats the idea of leather. Someone mentioned buying two, and that's a very smart call. Two jackets mean that if one gets soaked when you have to bail out of a plane...
For a little later in time period, but still very vintage at 50 years old, check out The Mary Tyler Moore show. It's available on an basic amazon account. AMAZING clothes... I've never seen a double breasted sweater before! :D
The show really captures how all the rules were being broken in the...
It's buried in the novella I wrote abive but does anyone know when the Challenger was discontinued? I know my Satellite was made in the early 2000s, around '03 or '04. There are some slight build variations in the materials of the sleeve ram vent, and the exhaust and sleeve zipper pulls. I'm low...
Filson makes their own line of riding gear, the Alcan collection (Alsaka/Canada). I've heard their tincloth chore coats have short sleeves, but I've never had one in hand myself.
I bought a used Barbor A7 International that should show up in my mailbox any day now. I can let you know if it's...

Behold! A motorcycle specific Peacoat! Wool blend keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer (how does it KNOW?) Fully lined with 1000D cordura, with pockest for D30 armor should you so desire...
And WOW! even I forgot how stiff a fresh Vanson is! I got into leather jackets as a rider, more than "through jackets" but I have always appreciated classic built-to-be-repaired items.
My first Vanson was my only factory new buy, it was on closeout through New Enough Leathers dot com. It's the...
This might not be quite the right forum but I'm giving it a shot anyway...
I'm in the market for a fresh pair of motorcycle touring boots. Aerostich has discontinued their Combat Touring Boot, and Chippewa has dropped their heritage line, so no more Rally Odessa boots.
There are some rally...
