^Same experience here. My brown Fed IV's brim is the perfect width, while my carbon gray seems a little wide.
This probably due to the brown one being 2 3/8" on the side while the CG is 2 1/2". Yes, the 1/8" makes a noticeable difference.

I think it's a two-pronged sword (excuse the mixed metaphor).
In addition to the additional cost, most (not all) men these who wear hats wear them with more casual attire. No brim trim is more casual, not to mention 'rugged' (grrr) than brim trim.
It's not a real high quality leather. I would never post it here. Not brand new but certainly not old, but a little stiff. I just want to soften it up a bit.
