I lean mostly to old school recipes but this one ranks right up there.
Left Hand Cocktail
Bartender Sam Ross marries two classics here—the Negroni and the Manhattan—to make a modern one. It's named after Lefty, an Italian-American character in "Donnie Brasco."

There has been a little bit said here about Carpano's vermouth but I figure it deserves a thread. I discovered it when ordering a Manhattan at the Roosevelt hotel in Hollywood. It was one of the best I had ever had the pleasure of drinking. I noticed the bartender used a bottle I had never seen...
This is a rare Bullocks Wilshire Fedora that was owned by a millionaire back in the day. The size shows 7.5 as the size but it measures 22 3/4 inside which is more like a 7 3/8.

I created the thread first so that I could include it in the e-bay auction. It helps create awareness of this joint. You guys were so Johnny-on-the-spot that you were posting before I could come back and add the e-bay link. Sorry for the confusion.
Up for auction is a vintage men’s fur felt Fedora by Knox New York in size 7 ¼. It is in excellent condition with very little signs of wear (NO bites, holes, tears, or stains on felt). Comes from a smoke-free home and includes a stylish deluxe hat box. The hat color is a Grey, with a black...
Manhattans, Metropolitans (which is very similar) and the Tuaca Sidecars have been my main choices over the past several years. This past year Zaya rum has found a special place in my heart.
I bought a couch for my office that says Ernest Hemingway when I look at it (yes. I hear voices from...
I tried Zacapa tonight. I can't say I share the opinion that it is better than Zaya. Different perhaps. Both are excellent, sipping rums...but I prefer Zaya.
Interesting. If Zacapa really is better I will keep my eye out for it. In my area Zaya is $34 and Zacapa is $44. Of course these are not sale prices.
Having said that....several months and many bottles later....I am still very impressed and enjoy Zaya rum.
.
Zaya is a private label rum brand developed by Infinium Spirits of California. The original version was produced in Guatemala. When production was changed to Trinidad, the master blender handcrafted the original recipe to be used with aged rum stocks from Trinidad in such a way as to keep the...
While in Las Vegas on a business trip, we were having drinks at the Rum Jungle in the Mandalay Bay. I asked the bartender what his favorite rum was. He introduced me to Zaya Gran Reserva from Trinidad. This is a wonderful sipping rum that doesn't need to be mixed with anything. It really stands...
.
The guy who won last time stiffed me so it is up for grabs again.....but the auction closes tomorrow.
