Thanks, guys. I've long been reading the rest of you talk about the Fed IV. Now I can say I agree with the chorus. It really is a quality hat -- a great style, great construction and a fantastic price. I heartily recommend it.
The CD is a good old-fashioned hat. It's versatile. It can be bashed different ways to give it completely different looks. Yes, it has straight sides. And right now, with the Australian dollar weak against the U.S. dollar, may be the cheapest time to buy. Go for it.
I finally joined the Fed IV club today when the mail came. Stuck a quick diamond bash in it. It's an Imperial model, but the felt is fairly soft - softer than my CD - and is a joy to shape. I really like this hat. At these prices, I may get more soon.

I second the bluegrass Campdraft. Great hat. Don't overlook the Fedora, or Sydney. That's a nice looking open crown hat.

Many times, Inge. My wife is Swedish and has many relatives there. We visit every couple of years, then drive over to Norway and see my cousins in Drammen.
Thanks. I think, as has been stated elsewhere on the Lounge, that Akubra felt tends to vary somewhat. I hope your hat comes to you as soft as mine. The wind trolley is a matter of taste. I have some hats with trolleys, but I've never actually used one.
