Its a very interesting list of custom hat makers. Im glad that there are more out there than I originally thought. I never heard of Watson Hats in Arizona. The website seems very nice as does the work that he does.
Don't expect a new hat to ever feel like a vintage hat from the 1940's or 1950's. That being said , from what I've seen of the new hats coming out of the Hatco factory is that the earth tone colors such as Tawny and Mink will feel better and shape easier than a Black or Caribou hat. This holds...
I have a lot of Stetson booklets and I've never seen that one before. It looks as if you could order the booklet with your stores name on it. There might be similar ones from other stores .
The decrease in the supply of rabbit felt will definitely affect the prices of hats especially here in the USA. That along with the dollars lowered value versus the Euro and the peso don't help either. You will be seeing increases across the board from the hat companies in the near future...
I don't think Hatco will make any new open crown styles. Having seen the fall line, most of the hats are 1 3/4 inch to 2 1/4 inch brims in a center dent style. There are some new things that they have improved on, one being the trimming. There are a lot of new bands that people will like. But...
Hatco does make a Whippet now. Its a C crown shape and has sold very well over the past few seasons. I don't know how well all of these new open crown hats are actually doing outside of the Fedora Lounge crowd. The general public doesn't seem to want tall crowns now.
Anyone looking for open crown Borsalino hats is welcome to check out our website. We have the Alessandria in many colors . The Borsalino Film is a great open crown hat that looks vintage 1940's. We sold a ton of them this past season and will have more very soon.
Very interesting. Ive never seen pictures of the factory. Their quality is similar to Tonak. Tonak does a better job on the velours and suede finishes .
Probably the worst place that I've seen anyone try to ride a bike in traffic was Naples Italy. The drivers are truly insane and everyone is cutting each other off. Now I know why I never drive in Europe!
