There are a lot of nice new styles. I have to admit ,it was a little confusing because there were so many new hats to choose from. But there was a lot of effort in creating this line ..more than in the past few years.
I know most of the lounge members will appreciate the open crown hats. We...
The " Grand Central" is a fantastic hat. I tried it on at the MR show that Hatco was at. There are a LOT of open crown hats in varying heights and brim widths. But the Grand Central is my favorite because of the welted edge.
We will be carrying many of these new hats on our updated website...
The hat was made in 2007. Borsalino hats hats made since 1994 will have a year code printed on the label. Before that , it was just a six digit number . Prior to that there were year code from 1976 until 1985 when the factory moved to its present location.
You paid 100$.. not bad. We sell...
Brad, it is in Hatco's best interests to push the Dobbs name as they own it outright instead of paying royalties on the Stetson label. But i doubt much will be done in the Dobbs line as the Stetson name is much more known today. Look what happened when they tried to revive the Cavanagh label...
There are more 8+ heads out there than you think. Biltmore (Canada) had an 8 1/4 block but I don't know what happened to it when the factory moved to Texas. Mayser also had a size 66 block but again where it is ,I don't know.
Stetson does not have any blocks over a size 8 for dress hats . I wish they did.
Hatco will also be releasing a collection of Dobbs Excellent quality hats as well. I think this season will one of the best for Hatco. They finally found the right help for improving their quality and image.
Very interesting. Since Hatco has their own body plant, it would be easier for them to create and produce a better body. Time will tell. I just hope the price isn't too steep. The general hat wearing public starts to fade away when prices hit a certain point.
Buler, that top hat is awesome!!!!. That was the location of JJ Hats before they moved. There was a hat store there since 1911. Now its a clothing store. Here is the progression of ownership at that location:
Youngs
Stetson
Forstadt

Hi Uptown,
Just come over the Williamsburg bridge to our store . You will find plenty of Borsalino hats. That hat is from the 1970's. Thomas and Moore was a decent hat account for Borsalino hats back then. I don't think they are still in business.
All the independent hatters should support Wincester as I believe they are the last independent source for hat bodies. Otherwise , you will all have to buy from overseas.
