If you crash it will always be your ass. That is the chance you take riding a motorcycle. Yes you can use preventable gear and one should make those decisions but no matter what you put on your body if you crash, go down, go up or whatever at 70 mph or even 20 mph it is going to be your ass.
It's my feeling that goat for a motorcycle jacket works very well if you choose a manufacturer that procurs a decent thick goat leather. Goat is water resistant and it wears well over time. I had Stuart manufacture a goat J-23 and wore it for several years while riding. I took 2 trips out west...
I would keep both of them. The lighter, trimmer version for when you just throw on a T-shirt and jacket and you are good to go. The darker for a cooler heavier shirt and jacket day, also the looser fit with a shirt hanging out can be an easier relaxing way to go too. Both colors are gorgeous and...
It's the same folks but no manufacturing. I think it is the same general manager who was a good guy. The repair person could be the same as well. They did me a real favor by sewing on new leather buckles that Aero supplied me as the original ones were not in the best shape. It's just...
That's too bad about their closing down. They were located in a small building outside of Tullahoma, TN next to what I assumed was the owners home. I think the owners wife had hired a general manager to keep it running and it seem to me they were doing a good job. I suspect what might have done...
About 14 weeks ago I had moved one jacket on and decided to use some of the money for a Comfortable riding jacket that could double for winter use in other ways. I went with the Longshoreman with a fur collar. While many of you have that great V shape so necessary for most traditional motorcycle...
I remember the meet up in Monteagle, TN. I am not sure what year, I think about 12 years ago.
These photos were taken with a large format camera from the early 1900's by one of the guys in the group. I didn't bother taking them off the yellow wall hence the tint.
I would add Mendel Boaz posted...
Hmm could be but he has 3 other jackets up as well. I just thought it was pretty cool looking.
It might be the same guy as it is out of CA and the selller here is as well. I didn't realize it was on here recently so my bad.
Not mine and not my size but thought this was gorgeous. No Bids with about 1.5 hrs left. Initial Bid of $800.00 with a "Make an Offer" on it as well. It's based out of CA...
I would bet there will be more popping up soon if they are giving out almost immediately after going up. I wonder if anyone at Vanson would let us in on the timing???? LOL.
The Cycle King by Vanson is now available on the Harley Davidson site for $829.00. This is the second time it has popped up on their main site rather than the Museum site. Seems vanson has a pretty good contract.
Oh and quick note the photos from HD don't save so I could not post a photo.
Stuart will make you one but you would need to send the jacket back to him so he can have it made to fit exactly. He fittted a natural sheepskin collar to a J-23 for me a few years ago.
To me the photo looks like you are bending slightly which makes the front of the jacket cover the front belt line more than it would normaly. I think the jacket needs about an inch in length and it would be dead on perfect. Having said that you can get away with it the way it is. I agree with...
I can't imagine Kerouac wearing anything of great value. I don't think that's where their heads were at. I am thinking the "beat" generation just didn't give a damn how they looked, at least it seemed that way when I read some of his work.
Got up this morning and it was 48 degrees! Tennessee weather soon warmed up a bit but it was nice wearing it in cool crisp weather while it lasted. Lost Worlds J-23 Denim and Midweight Horse.
