Thank you Deacon. I am a die hard Colt fan. But, Colt doesn't make a LWT Commander size gun out side the Collt Custom Shop or a custom maker (read big $ for either and long waits) that compares to the LWT Rugers for attributes.
I have 3. One in 9mm, another 9mm that was converted to 38 Super...
A couple of custom Ruger's LWT, Commander size guns in 9mm and 45. The Ruger's come from the factory with nicely 25lpi checker, flat, steel, mainspring housing. Both of these guns have Colt's nylon main spring housing installed as part of the modifications to eliminate a bit of weight...
>the plastic mainspring housing has to go.
It is the Internet so advice is required even when not requested ;)
Colt uses a type of high strength nylon for their mainspring housings. Really tough stuff. Unlike Kimber's plastic version which more often than not breaks at the retaining pin...
I often times enjoy the comments that hat users will make. And some of the observations and assumptions made as well.
I bought my lovely wife a fine Panama 30 years ago. She still has it. Still looks new. I'd bet I could actually count the number of times she has worn it over the years...
I haven't counted the number of "hats" I actually own. All have a place in my rotation depending on the need.
Some are very light ;)
Elevation is just over 4,000ft lower here, and a lot warmer, but I was still thankful for a little more sun protection when moving water today ;)
CKC? You obviously have the skills to build what ever you want. Which I admire ;) I bought Mart jacks in 7 3/8 and 7 1/2 I think. Or may be it was by measured size, I don't remember as it has been awhile . One is more narrow than the other. Over all sizing cna be adjusted by the...
Agreed! I can always use another good hat stretcher. I have two from Mart Allen that are real treasures. They were $100+ iirc. More on Mart below. He is 95 now and retired. I cut down the Boot barn "hat jacks" and use them to shape bosals. Better use of a Boot Barn "hat jack" than...
Smaller hats can have their place. The rain forest is one ;-)
>I'll bet it weighs a ton when wet!
Randy got me wondering ;-)
6" brimmed Sunbody with a 1" horse hair hatband...dry? 11.5oz
6" brim, the same, soaked and running water. 18oz.
8oz of water seems to be an easy load for a big...
Good on ya ;-) Some of the poor, more feeble, fellers here would likely get a crooked neck from just a few minutes in one of RJ's lids. Really nice, traditional felt, sombreros FWIW.
Last I looked I have about as many hats as pairs of boots. I mix and match as I see fit or more than likely what my beat-up feet are telling me to wear that particular day. Not all that stylish, but running shoes are always a safe bet no matter the hat size.
What I ride in is not...
I have a Bailey 7x I bought in '93. Bough a couple of others for family members. I still have the hat. Almost every other hat I own is 100% beaver. The 7x Bailey is a fine felt hat.
