Great idea for a thread. I'll bite...
First up is my padded flat track Bates aka "Garry" with 2 Rs, vintage Bates patch, and a big road scar on the back.
I've been looking at this one. Definitely not a "6 Panel" back. Not even sure it's a Cal Leather. But it's still a cool looking padded cafe for a somewhat reasonable price.
Thanks for the link. Nice Langlitz. It does look kind of green...or very dirty.
I had a Langlitz Green label a few years ago. Sadly, way too small for me. The Green labels I've seen have a slightly different design.
Gwen is really amazing with restoring the leather on vintage Cals. She brought my Cafe Racer back to life. She has a restoration technique, if I remember correctly, where she saturates the leather in some kind of leather restorer and then stores the jacket in a black bag in the heat for a while...
"Picked up my latest Cal today from the Cal shop after some much needed love. Post some pics tomorrow. Wow, just wow is all I'll say."
Can't wait to see some pics of the Cal. Which one?
I'm a big fan of those vintage "Tailored by Bates" jackets...and this ABC jacket was one of the earlier jackets made before the company was sold to become Bates. It may be a bit overpriced, and one of those colors you either love or hate...but a size this large rarely comes up. EBAY Link here.
Thanks for posting your new Sheene. Likewise, I've been looking for a natural leather for a new Sheene. I was originally considering the natural Vic, but the Vic just lacks the depth of the natural CXL. And the CXL is too thick for this climate...(Too bad Aero doesn't offer deerhide, or elk. Or...
Good to see Cal Leather getting some attention. Long overdue. Gwen is a miracle worker when it comes to repairing the CL vintage jackets...and such a wealth of archival info. The trip to her shop in Ventura is well worth the effort. I hope they get more business.
Here's a CL Cafe that Gwen...
Wish I knew more about it...really a beautiful hide and cut on this jacket. Totally regret selling it, but the closet just got too full. I'm thinking mid to late 70's possibly. Just a guess.
There's been a number of vintage Bates flat tracker cafe racers showing up lately...here's another one. So cool!

Love these vintage Bates flat track cafe racers...this one looks like the real deal!

Looks like the same style and label of the jacket I sold a couple of weeks ago here on the FDL...except mine was in off-white. The Deerskin is very thick and supple on these!
