Goes via many different names and a number of different varities, you can get antique ones on ebay or there is a firm that still makes them new.
One assumes the "conformer" discussed here is the modern Plastic "halo" varient?
That are a number of versions of the Polished fur felt available in the UK. Ususlly termed "Melusine" none to my knowledge use "beaver" though are still considered a fine fur felt. If it is beaver they use then it is a different manufacturer to the ones I know of.
The UK versions I know...

This is actually true - Have a copy in my reference notes somewhere will try and dig it up.
A Top Hat "Camera" - Yes old fashioned on a big tripod, with the old photographic plates. The Topper was mounted on it side with the lense in the Tip of the Toppers crown!
Still also manufactured in England.
The word "Boater" only became popualr from early 1900ies prior to that they were mearly called "straws". They were derived from the British Navy straw hat from the late 19C. and moved into civilian fashion, eventually used by people when they went...

The article if full of extracts from other people books - the problem here is quotation without verifiication often leads to misnomers and fables.

I won't mention if I also sell boaters in the UK - 'cos if I did I'm not meant to ;)

Caps can lead to greater chance of sunburn and possibly worse to ears and other parts of the face.
My Dear Chap,
An umbrella is one of the safest items around, you must have been using it incorrectly. Did you perchance unfurl it in the rain, the opening it casued the accident If so then that was mistake....
One's umbrella should remain furled at all times. In case of rain, hold said...
Going back to "Cicero" hat with started it - then presently it is not a homburg - in his own words he rebashed it. As the centre of the crown is not uniform straight crease.
As is - the brim is more like a bowler, hence ( similar to my my trilbowler hybrid) maybe a it merely a "ferdora"...
The definition of a Snap brim is one down turned at the front and upturned at the back, none of the ones pictures so far show this.
The earliest documented homburg style from 1882 commissioned to be made by M??ckel show a standard crease down the tip ( some do have side crown flattened...
As per my comments in the other thread - the pinch and the brim finish are different.
This hat is more like the 2 on the left page next to the spine crease.
Again this is backed up also by AlanC's ic "Lords hat" above referencing to pinching.
Feraud,
The Sanpped Brim Homburg was actually was actually a fedora. This appears more like the two hats on the left hand page , one above each other - nearest the centre page split.
Please can you scan both pages of the document so we can read all the hats on the page.
Cheers
Interesting, it looks like it has had a previous life:
1) Brim Curl is same as the common style for bowler/topper. - Hence formal. But it is unlike a standard Homburg which is a uniform pencil curl all around.
2) Crown has single crease like a homburg - Butr looking inside the hat the...
