No TFH leather is super smooth. The RMC leather shows more grain -- at least out of the box. TFH leather also has a much stronger leather smell than the RMC.
Guess I'm on the opposite side where I have an RMC in this leather but never handled Freewheelers. I will say though I'm only so-so on this leather. It isn't bad but I'd take my Flat Head black leather over the RMC any day of the week. I just prefer the feel and the look. Visually from...
Here is my TFH cafe racer in the light brown colorway -- which seems fairly rare to find. They've used this leather before on a halfbelt that Self Edge carried as well but I haven't seen it used much elsewhere. Really a beautiful jacket. Far and away the one I get the most random compliments...
Having the two I prefer no zippers on the pockets. I don't have to worry about the teeth scratching the leather on my sleeves if I shove my hands in there. Sometimes I do enjoy the safety of zipping up my phone in my hand pockets but in general I prefer the comfort of no zips if your plan is...
Is there any functional reason behind fringed leather jackets? I'm fine with "Its sweet so we did it" I'm just wondering if there was a historical reason.
Not sure on the MA-1 style but I've seen plenty of Grateful Dead patches on Vietnam style fatigue jacket. Not like the drafted really wanted to fight in that war so it makes sense a band like Dead would appeal to them.
I generally buy my jeans to be about the size I want after their initial hot soak. I did the skin tight thing in my early 20s. I'm over it now. This is also why I've been drifting towards buying one-wash unsanforized denim or just sanforized denim. I don't really feel like playing the...
You have access to Self Edge in LA a well to check out the Japanese denim scene. My problem with MiUSA jeans is the denim is all pretty similar and kind of bland for my tastes. In terms of long lasting my Iron Hearts have outlived any previous pairs I've owned. I have worn them pretty much...
I think you've told that story before Khilij and it always warms my heart to hear it. Its amazing these small things from our childhoods that can have such an impact on us as adults.
I like light jackets because they remind me of fall and spring which are my favorite seasons. I have absolutely no love for winter coats. They just remind me of brutal Ohio winters where I'm freezing my ass off standing and waiting for the bus or shoveling snow.
More specifically for leather...
I can't comment on the Made in China leather jackets but I have been on a tear buying Red Tornado and Bob Dong off Aliexpress. I have been incredibly impressed. Everytime I place an order the seller I buy from on Aliexpress ensures the sizing is correct. This last time a pair of Red Tornado...
Flat Head's black leather is really something else. Really smooth, great feel and not too deep a black. Whoever gets this will be really happy with the item.
I actually went through this exact process (even exact jackets) recently.
So the Mulholland I rejected out of my list because I do not feel like I have a great frame for it. In general it seems to fit people who have a stockier build and I'm more lanky. So the measurements just did not look...
2021 has a red cotton lining in the sleeves. It isn't herringbone more like drill but its pretty silky. The torso lining is also a fairly thin cotton and doesn't seem nearly as brushed as the older models.
