I've gone back to malls and tried on some ' fashion' jackets since getting into the stuff we like on this forum.
They've all felt like garbage even if they were expensive. The patterns are horrid because they're meant to fit tall skinny models and even then, they don't fit those people...
Anything slippery like rayon or silk or anything soft and comfortable like brushed cotton flannel. Wool body liner with cotton flannel or moleskin sleeves are nice too.
I hate cotton drill. It's stiff, uncomfortable, and rough in some cases. Pretty much any option is better than that.
@red devil right now I am just waiting on the engineers. I'll see him next year in Japan hopefully and I'm hoping he will have finishes the design by then.
I would say that for the most part, yes it does lower the excitement for me. With that said, it depends on the specific item and the situation surrounding it.

Saw @jeo at a vintage market in Brooklyn and I walked away with a 1950s navy suede Sears Hercules sports jacket. Very good condition overall and solid price. Plus, the label and liner are mint. I know these aren't very...
Very sad to hear this. He will certainly be missed on here. I respected him and his contributions to the lounge. My condolences to his family and friends.
On a lighter note, I will never forget his screen name. Hoosier Daddy is one of the best pun user names of all time IMO.
Thanks! It's damn near done it. I'll put it this way: I'm not actively looking for any more new jackets, not even Freewheelers ones. I am actively looking for vintage jackets and am looking forward to the next inspiration and any other opportunities to find good vintage jackets.
I'm not opposed...
