Most times I do. There is one huge site where I have walked thousand miles over many years and gathered every tiny flint object. They are now part of a university study of late palaeolithic to early mesolithic transition period settlements in this area.
But sometimes I just keep them, enjoy them...
Beyond life experience: Flint artifacts! I have gathered thousands in my collection. I simply can't walk without looking for them unconsciously. I seem to stumble upon them. Once educated to recognize them properly I can't overlook them. Neolithic axes, Mesolithic adzes, arrowheads from the late...
I can second that. I have done a lot of wool fabric dying using boiling hot water. While cooling it is important to not move the fabric around. I have done it even with a lot of knit wear like sweaters. It is possible to re-saturate with lanolin after the process to some extent (but I feel...
I sometimes wait until late night when even animals are asleep and... :) no, not really, but Brunell80: WE SIMPLY CAN'T WAIT UNTIL ITALY IS FINALLY COLD ENOUGH FOR THIS JACKET! ...this would maybe never be the case anyway... so hurry and climb your Presena Glacier and take a pic! Will be a nice...
Back from Denmark I see it's been a month ago since you ordered your Deck Jacket, Brunell80. Any fit pics yet? Are you satisfied with your choice? Just curious because a lot of fine people here invested quite some time advising you and answering your questions. Wouldn't it be great, if this part...
When you say your chest is 40", then a size 42 (khaki) may be a bit on the large side... But don't listen to me!! Ask the store you want to order from, send your measurements to be on the safe side. I bet they recommend a size 40. Ask them and then please come back here with their answer, I am...
My personal ranking would be:
A - Craft and material quality
Real McCoys
Iron Heart
Buzz Ricksons
Pike Brothers (all first four quite close, then comes a bit of a gap)
Bronson
B - Fashion/Style/fit (very subjective!)
Bronson
Iron Heart
Real McCoys (all first three very close, then comes a...
In addition to Blackadder, I may say, that the Khaki version of Pike Brother's N-1 also has the lining down to the cuffs. And because their lining is on the thicker side, this adds to the bulkiness of the sleeves in the Pike's version.
This is the Buzz Ricksons Demotexed version. The sleeves are too long imo, and the knit cuffs are stitched through the sleeves outer shell. The guy looks swamped in this jacket.
So again, it depends on your body measurements and proportions which of these options fit and look best on you. Does...
I share this desire when it comes to Deck Jackets.
All of the mentioned brands (Pike Brothers included!) are very well made reproductions.
All of them have very minor detail variations which are differing from period originals. The quality of the Pike Brothers is superb. I agree, the Buzz...
There are only two hairstyles for men in this world. Long hair or no hair. I have mine at elbow length. Have long hair since I was 15. I promise: the same day I discover any hair loss, I will shave my head. And the day after I will go hat shopping.
The A-2 has four benefits. First: it looks more modern. Second: It is more versatile imo. Third: breast pocket. Fourth: the price tag. Quality wise all three are very well made jackets. What let you hesitate to try a Pike Brothers first before spending the double amount of money?
There is good and bad everywhere. When your ordered from Bronson or from vtgdr_store's ebay shop, you will receive your items no problems. And should there be issues, both are very responsive and helpful. Mistakes can happen anytime when humans do things. But - yes - the scammers spoil the...
That's absolute correct. These jackets were hanging ready at the bulkheads of wider compartments at the end of passageways leading to the flight deck on aircraft carriers. They were ship equipment, no personal belongings. If the one these guys grabbed fit reasonable, they took it and did not...
