I believe this is a 1940s suit. It has the right construction and a 1939 Union label. I'd say late 40s based on the lapel gorge. Shocking thing is that it fits me perfectly. And I'm a size 46 with a 42 (natural) waist. Only paid $48.- VintageEveryday

Actually no. It's a bit like how pants are marked as the same size but differences in cut make them fit like smaller or larger sizes. I've found on the whole that some 7 3/8 fit like they should, whereas others are too tight.- VintageEveryday

what do you search to find it? Even on ebay UK, searching "1940s sport coat mens" comes up with items that are most definitely NOT 1940s.
