Thanks again Marc! It's easily the most comfortable vintage jacket I've tried, I have had pretty bad luck with older jackets but with this one, I'm hooked.
No matter how much something costs, I will still use it for the intended purpose, I see it as a waste to be so precious about it that you rarely wear it, or if you do wear it, you're not enjoying yourself because you're too conscious of damaging your clothing.
Of course, when I first get them...
Check inside the handwarmer pockets for a reproduction tag. I agree this looks quite new.
Also if they're original they go for big money from listings I've seen in Japan around $1000-1500 I think? So the price should also give you an indicator if you're looking at a listing.
Now you describe what you want more, it reminds me of the custom that denim dentist got from Field Leathers, cropped and boxy fit, and I think its the nicest one I've seen in this type of fit.
Unfortunately Field Leathers doesn't accept custom orders anymore though.
This thread really got me excited about my boots again! I've basically just did light maintenance then left them untouched since May. So today I conditioned them with a light amount of Mustang Paste, then gave them a shine/polish, I think they are honestly looking better than ever. Really...
I kinda run the gamut on this question. I have both workboots that are fit for purpose Wesco Hendriks, those I don't care I just chuck on, very little thought goes into maintenance and I don't baby them at all. Same deal also goes for my Sagara Lace to Toe boots, I feel those match with being...
Awesome! I really wish I could go, I'd like to get an order for the Moto Engineers since they don't have sizing samples usually. All these cool events never coincide with when I'm taking a holiday there
I was in between ordering a made to order engineer from Wesco or going for an in-stock boot, very glad I went with stock considering the lead times, and also that was the time their MTO stuff kept coming out with poor QC. Also I got my sizing wrong and it was a quick exchange, if I went custom...
I usually wear soft loopwheel t-shirts, feel amazing, none have died on me yet, but I have some jersey knit tees that have worn through. I also have a heavier Bronson t-shirt that is more stiff and looks like it will outlast the softer ones easily but not as comfortable for every day wear. I...
Maybe I have awful alien acidic sweat, t-shirts are seen as an inevitable replacement for me, last years, but eventually the friction and washing makes them thin and develop holes after a while, I don't think any t-shirt of mine will last 10+ years.
I never use handwarmer pockets for my hands, just putting stuff in, especially for shorter jackets, I just don't think its comfortable. I think the original customer has a similar use case?
I've bought jackets that are good on most, with one or two outlier measurements I didn't like but they've worked out, some jackets I've just got my own measurements completely wrong, some jackets one measurement seemed off or close, and they come and it's a completely bricked fit. Can't win them...
Depends, going price for a used one is around $200 USD, new ones if you buy in Japan is marked up though because of import fees + retail markup, etc.
Also, the ones on ebay are likely just sellers that proxy for you at a ridiculous markup, even 2-3x the asking price in Japan in some instances...
I think zipped cross zip is the coolest by far
I prefer zipped cross zip and open center zip personally. I don't like vests, but a tie looks nice especially wide ones with center zip jackets.
Avenue is certainly not out of business. Their owner posts frequently on Instagram and they just released this same custom model early this year in brown and black.
I really like this jacket, another major design change from the Hercules is there is no hem panel that breaks up the Hercules...
