I thought you already had experience with JL's overdye. I really love the hide. It might take longer than 2 weeks to break in. I am doing the "just wear it" break in method. I have been wearing it everyday. The first 2 months, I wore it for ATLEAST 2 hours everyday. I was very anal about that...
You have this coming in your upcoming jacket bundle? Or you already have it?
I am really liking my CXL overdye. It is starting to break in and I was able to quiet it down a bit.
Looking good Edward. You are almost there. The last couple of pounds can be stubborn. lol. Hope to see pics of the 618 soon as you continue on your weight loss path.
I know you are on team vintage, some of those 50's biker jackets that Jmax and Tmitchell post up are amazing. All the guys that post in the deals thread find some really good stuff. I am not in the market for vintage, but I always visit the thread and access the links just for the pics.
Someone with better tech skills needs to post this pic side by side with your black J106 pic. I never thought the king of cross-zips would have evolved into this distinguished gent. LOL. You are very lucky and can pull off both looks quite well. Complete opposites of the spectrum.
You had me cracking up Carlos. Thanks for the chuckle. That guy is your stereotypical American biker. Somehow, I don't think he is interested in veg. tanned shinki.
I don't think brass stays shiny very long. My new jacket that I got on Jan 21 is already starting to look dull. My hardware was bright and shiny when I first got it.
I think AF sums it up. This is a fashion jacket. Most of what Schott makes nowadays are fashion jackets. This is not a motorcycle jacket. Your average long beard, tattooed, beer-drinking biker would not buy this.
The only MOTORCYCLE jackets Schott makes anymore are the 613/618/118 and the 141/641.
Conducting more tests on my JL. 38 degrees here on the north coast. The JL did great. Took the collar off and tested with a light hoodie on underneath. For all you riders out there, I think the fur collar adds warmth. I had it on yesterday and took it off today. The jacket seems warmer with it...
I really love my new JL jacket, but the squeakage was absolutely ridiculous and downright annoying. I am talking crazy, stupid, loud. I was hoping wear would quiet it down somewhat. My 618 was kinda loud in the beginning and is now almost silent after some wear. My older Vanson hardcore...
I am a huge fan of heavier (3.5-4.5oz) leather, which is light/mid weight leather to @Arrandale and @Hh121. lol. My jackets are all used as motorcycle jackets, so I much prefer the heavier weight. Plus, you have the challenge/satisfaction of breaking in a new heavy-duty piece of equipment. And...
Thanks Panda. I went with a removable belt and side laces. I wanted an old school removable belt that went through the rear kidney panel. No belt loops in the back. JL did a great job.
I was FINALLY able to take my JL out on the bike today to test the fit and function while on the motorcycle. I will say Johnson Leather can really make a true motorcycle jacket. I have had Vanson, Langlitz, Schott, and Harley. The JL M-500 pattern simply works. I think JL understands how a...
Hats off to sensei Panda again. I had no idea about the YKK zippers. As I was reading your post, I had my JL on and checked the zipper. Sure as $hit, it said USA on it.
I think Schott uses different tanneries than Vanson. I have no experience with Schott naked leather, if you want a naked...
I have had a few Vansons and Perfectos. I have to agree with Panda. "Newer" Vansons just have crappier leather. My last model E I gave away to my brother, I really didn't feel right trying to sell it. I have never seen him wear it since I gave it to him. I should have sent it back when I opened...
