Nice hat! I love my Stylemasters. They are super hats. One has a bit lighter ribbon and binding than yours, and the other is a nice basic Black. I love the C bash in the tops, but I will have to admit that I also have a Black Bogart, just so I can bounce between center dent and c- bash without...
Looks like a mixed bag of hot sun and scattered thunderstorms predicted today ( and the rest of the week). Figured I pull out one of the Akubras in case the rain catches me somewhere.
Thinking the Lightning Ridge gets the call today. As with some of my other Akubras, This ones had a little bit...
Warm, muggy, and the powers already gone out once this morning. Lets brighten up the morning a bit with a Hemp Stratoliner and one of my favorite Paradise Found shirts
Beaver Brand are great hats to play with and modify... Ive got one similar to yours here that is getting ready for a diet (trimming brim from 3-1/2" down to 2-1/2" brim) Not expensive but decent fur. All of mine are comfortable hats
One of my older 3x Open Roads hadnt been off the wall in a week or so...out it comes! Its not exactly an antique but its my oldest Open Road. Really nice soft felt. Its rapidly becoming one of my favorite nicer hats
Followup to the banjo trade tale.... they fellow came over today to pick out his new hat for my part of the trade. We looked at Stetsons, Akubras and various Knox and Champs. He fell in love with a Sage Hemp Stratoliner.... it was the perfect choice as I actually had TWO of them... He got the...
Just a little observation with cowboy hat conversions..... I usually do a serious alcohol bath to remove most of the stiffener/ shellac. I usually get the hats quite a bit softer, but have noticed that due to the thicker felt on a cowboy hat, they dont seem to show wrinkles and creases as much...
One of the other Stetson cowboy conversions. No need for anything to languish unworn in the closet... Just make it more wearable and get it out in the sun!
A lot of the old musicians I like still sound good after 50 yrs, but the old soundboard guys are usually deaf and take 20 or 30 minutes to get the sound dialed in lol.
Always a sucker for decent looking inexpensive hats, A while back I found a really clean Sage green Stetson Weekender for about $30. A couple weeks ago I found another in brown for $35. In my mind its nice to have a few like these on the wall to give away to aspiring hat wearers that need to get...
Thanks! I think the vast majority of my hats are 2-1/4-2-1/2 " brims at most. Over the last few years, I think Ive prob trimmed a half dozen 3" brims down to 2-1/2...Makes them MUCH more wearable. If I rode fence lines on a horse or baled hay, I wand bigger brims... but at the coffee shop or...
Figured Id trot out another Stetson cowboy conversion this morning. Its a bit taller crown than most I have, and I love the color. Wanting to re-flange the brim to get a bit more curl to snap up in back, but have been thinking of adding ribbon edge binding to this one first. Just cant decide...
Taking one of the "Mutts" out on the patio tonight... Paired with a Shiner Bock and a Punch Double Maduro. This poor little thing was a $10 ebay hat in really rough shape. A Sovereign stetson of some form ( no tags inside) with a wide ribbon binding. Looks a lot like my semi modern Whippet I...
Another miserably hot day here. I cant wait for cold weather so I can pair nice jackets with nice hats in the morning pics!
Had to make a road trip this morning... ( I made an adult beverage resupply run a few miles over to the next non-dry town lol) The lid of choice was one of the cowboy...
Definitely use a towel on top if ironing. Im not sure how the Florintine Milan material would react compared to the Hemp under a hot iron... Im thinking it might be best to steam and press flat till cool instead of ironing (Cut out a piece of cardboard to press with.. Steam, cover with a cloth...
Ive had the same issue with my Hemp Stratoliners where the front brim down looks a bit wonkey. I found that if you steam and iron the whole front half of the hat brim flat it lays down way better without the funny waves on the brim
