    Photos of hatters tools

Thanks Bob! This conformateur definitely falls under the "don't need it and probably won't use it much" category, but I'm sure tickled to have it anyway. Tangible hat making history.

I never thought I'd actually see one of these in person, much less have one in my humble little shop, but here she is. I have hats to make so I can't dive into the restoration right now, but I hope to restore this conformateur to it's original glory. A big thanks to our very own Dr. Max for...

Thanks Randy. That ribbon has been hanging around the shop for a long time. Just waiting for the right hat.

I asked several people the same question about the ribbon color Tuk. In person and under various lighting conditions, some saw it as brown, some as rust, and some as reddish brown. To me, it's just a beautiful old antique ribbon that I think looks great on the hat. Unfortunately, I only had a...

Making a Western hat by hand?

Excellent work Scott. That is going to be one fine looking hat. I've been skeptical about the effectiveness of the wood brim curling tools, but it seems to have worked out quite well for you. I'm looking forward to playing around with one of those nutria hat bodies myself.

What I figured Bama. This one will be just for straws which I hand form over the block. Hey, for half a C note I would've bought it just to look at.

I agree Jack. Some dedicated craftsman spent some serious time putting this rig together.

She's working on it Jonesy, but my little elf doesn't put in the hours that I'm accustomed to. Could be the student is smarter than the teacher.

I'd considered that Brent. You're right. Expansion will definitely elongate the oval, but I think the final band blocking will accomplish the oval desired.

I don't think I'd want to iron felt bodies on this block as there is a chance that the seams would show up on the finished product. This makes sense to me mostly for my specialty blocks that I'm using for straw hats. Another drawback, there is no hole in the bottom so this cannot be used on my...

This just tickles the hell out of me. My latest Ebay purchase. Adjustable cattleman's crease hat block. I marvel at the simple ingenuity. Middle spacers to make most all of the common size hats up to 7 3/4 as it sits and very easy to make additional spacers for even larger sizes. Also, not that...

Excellent work there Brent. Don't know why you'd need anything better than that.
