Gibson & Barnes “Civil” G-1 with real mouton fur collar & Thinsulate lining (and hand warmer side pockets). I wore this most of the time last winter working in NY harbor and it’s getting lots of wear this year too. Can handle just about anything Mother Nature hurls at us; rain, wind, snow, ice...
Hey Terry! Thanks SO much my friend. It’s been a hectic time for me the past few months and most of my “new” acquisitions lately have been simple textile jackets off the ‘Bay. Nothing exotic or rare, just good utilitarian designs that I wear to work.
I’m not familiar with the Admiral Byrd...
I picked up a Rothco B-15 off the ‘Bay for $25. Makes a great “beater” jacket and it’s surprisingly warm! Very well made. Plenty of room for layering, especially when it’s zero degrees outside and you’re down in Antarctica (actually it’s New Jersey :p).
There’s a surplus Australian Army coat, 1967, on eBay that looks very similar. Even has the distinctive triangular stitching where the label is.
Someone probably changed the buttons and had it altered (resulting in those odd seams in front).
I also recommend FiveStar leathers for anything custom. Very inexpensive, quick turnaround time, very good quality.
Check the FiveStar website or e-mail Shawn directly.

@KentH I have a B-15A made by Pike Bros. It’s very well made, has the look and feel of the original (tho not 100% accurate), and is very warm & comfortable to wear. Excellent quality and value for the price, IMHO.
@deeds first pic is jacket fresh out of the box. Second pic is putting the jacket to the test, wearing it ALOT, in all kinds of weather (especially during rain storms). LW jackets are well known for their ruggedness and quality construction.
@antoine p, yes I bought my first LW jacket, an A-2, back in 1996 (?) but sold that one 10 years later as I’ve gone up a size or 2 in the succeeding 25 years. And each different jacket I’ve ordered isn’t the exact same size since the patterns and styles of different models don’t always fit the...
I ordered a LW jacket in February of this year; took 3 months to arrive (delays because of the Covid outbreak). Stu and I exchanged 3-4 e-mails where we discussed fit preferences and minor custom details.
I’m between a 46 and a 48, long/tall.
There is an upcharge for a long size but I was able...
Just received my B-10 jacket from FiveStar; well-made, warm, perfect fit, tho obviously not 100% accurate to a WWII original. The shell is more of a dark khaki/British tan color that I really, really like. I chose the color of the mouton fur and the knits to replicate a Buzz Rickson B-10 that I...
This just arrived today (2-days shipping from U.K. to the U.S.), the Alpha Industries Injector MODIII.
Has a real mouton fur collar (non-detachable), upgraded nylon shell, normal fit (not slim fit or oversized!) and afew other nicely updated details.
Not quite as nice as my Buzz Rickson MA-1...
