Hi,
I have a question regarding Grenfell trench coats.
It is my understanding that the Grenfell cloth was a tightly woven gabardine made from 600 thread-per-inch Egyptian cotton. Some have stated that the cloth was even more tightly woven than Burberry's. I have seen a few Grenfell trench...
Aquascutum Kingsgate Trench Coat
Men's full length beige trench coat in excellent condition.
This is a stunning double-breasted vintage Kingsgate trench coat, the high-end of the Aquascutum with the understated British elegance.
It is superbly made with classic military styling, such...
Jeez, yourself!
Can't a man express a preference without being hassled? :p
I am a minimalist and I just happen to like vintage models apart from some minor details, and flaps look too "grandpa" for my taste.
Same goes for the Aquascutum "arches" on the back yoke on some models. It always makes...
I know it is sacrilege to the old Trench 21.
However, looking at a bargain with these pockets I was hoping for some feedback on whether removal was a possibility or not, since I prefer rectangular pockets.
Burberry side pocket flaps removal possible?
A few vintage Burberrys trench coat models come with flap side pockets.
Can these storm flaps covering the slant pockets be removed, just by carefully removing the stitching?
Here is a picture from eBay:
I was paying closer attention to the coat than Clive Owen when I watched the movie. :D
I really like the length of the coat, the visible buttons and all the double stitched seam lines along the sleeves and across the back. There are set-in sleeve seam lines at the front and raglan sleeve seam...
I haven't had any luck, I'm afraid.
I did contact Hugo Boss, but all they could come up with was that it was probaly a seasonal style. They weren't able to narrow it down.
Looking online at a few vintage trench coats from Burberrys, I have come across colour descriptions such as cream and ivory.
My impresson of the colours are:
Tan - has a warm darker brownish hue
Beige - has a warm but light brownish hue
Khaki - often seems to be confused with olive, but...
30 year already? Man, I'm getting old.
One of my all time favorite films. The fourth was bad though.
Just saw the youtube parody "Indiana Jones and the Prostate of Doom"

I'm looking for a vintage Burberrys double-breasted trench coat with a 100% cotton shell, storm flap, belt with D-rings, throat latch etc.
My size is 44R(US/UK) 54R (EURO). 44L/54L is also fine, since I like my sleeves long.
If you have one for sale, please let me know :-)
My size...
I prefer the Kingsgate, since it is the only Aquascutum coat I know that has a large square storm flap. My height is 6'1" (185cm) , chest size is 41" (104cm) and my arms are 23" (58.5cm) from the shoulder to the wrist joint. Looking at these numbers and the sizes of my other...
The Kingsgate coat model in the above photo is the one I am looking for in my size.
The little white label shown in the third photo has the colour code.
Have you seen it for sale resently?
Thanks for the photos,
Michael
I've been looking for a Aquascutum in that colour!
Could you perhaps tell me the colour code? The little white label is inside one of the side pockets.
Thanks,
Michael
