One of the best scenes I've ever saw was the final sword fight in Rob Roy.
The contrast between swords and style.
The physical difficulty of such a fight.
The best aspect of the scene was the desperate move Neeson used to win.
That extreme closeup of Rorschach is both extremely cool and extremely creepy. I love the idea of a superhero, if he can be called that, walking around in normal clothes instead of some elaborate costume or suit.
I was thinking of buying an Akubra Fedora. I notice at Everything Australia http://www.everythingaustralian.com.au/shopexd.asp?id=534&ccode=1580&cat_id=2 there's a three month wait. I am thinking of the burnt oak color but I think I might like a black ribbon instead of the brown one it comes...
I'm looking for a hat that is similar to the hat in my avatar. I'm looking at the Akubra Leisure Time because it comes in a light sand color. I'll have to had a ribbon to it. It is however a safari style brim. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Just saw it last night. I then watched the original. The two were very different. Some aspects of the remake were improvements on the orginal. But I thought they may have increased the violence a little too much. One thing for sure they certainly are not the same movie. Of course after glancing...
Just looked at the famous phot of the Wild Bunch and everyone was wearing a bowler. The photo was taken in 1901. How popular was the bowler at the turn of the century? Or was it just a photograph hat? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/54/Wildbunchlarge.jpg
I'm Irish on my father's side and German on my mother's. Although my surname is Norse in origin. So I hail from a Viking who settled in Scotland and whose ancestors many generations later emigrated to Ireland.
A great book which discusses in detail the war in the south is "The Road to Guilford Courthouse". The author does a great job categorizing even the smallest miltia skirmishes. A fan of Francis Marion would be interested in this book. I only wish the author would finish the story with a book on...
Did anyone else else experience this. I went my whole life never hearing this man's name or if I did hear it mentioned in school or a textbook there was no emphasis. But when I began a truly detailed study of the American Revolution I realized how could they not have mentioned his name as much...
Anybody see the footage of the building implosion that will be in The Dark Knight. It will be interesting to compare that footage with how it looks post production.
Also, here's a cool image Batman fans should like.
The crown is quite high 5 1/8" at its highest point.
Also it's amazing the difference between 2 3/4" brim on the Banjo Patterson and the 2 1/2" brim on the Bogart. Even though the difference is only 1/4" it is quite pronounced.
My avatar is from Last Man Standing. Here's the link if anyone's...
Here are some photos of my Akubras
For Indycop who is thinking of getting a bogart you might want to get the next size up because my bogart although a 59 like my Banjo Patterson is smaller than the Banjo Patterson.
I just bought and received a black akubra bogart. I was wearing it in the rain and when I came inside I placed it on its crown on a white countertop to slowly dry. After a while I picked it up and noticed two brown stains on the countertop from the two highpoints of the crown which came into...
I just bought an Akubra Bogart from Hats by the Hundred. When I bought the hat the price they gave on the website was $77 U.S. plus $13 U.S. for shipping for a total of $90 U.S. I just got my credit card statement which listed the price at $117 U.S. The statement did list the price of the hat in...
I think The Departed is highly overrated. All my friends loved it but I just didn't. It was way too long and I just found myself constantly eyeing my watch waiting for the credits.
