cant wait till we warm up and I can run around in my tropical shirts ( I have more of them than "Normal" shirts lol)
Here on the southern shores of the UK we get a sea current known as The North Atlantic Drift lapping the coastline. That Drift significantly impacts the UK's climate. It carries warm water from the South Atlantic to the south and western shores of the UK. The prevailing south-westerly winds then spread these warmer conditions, giving the southern and south-western parts of the country mild winters.

It doesn't bring Mediterranean sunshine, the like of which, Jon is enjoying with his glass of beer, but I can, and do, wear colourful shirts during the winter months. They are a welcome change after a lifetime in the uniform of a pin stripe suit, such was my lot when I was the head-honcho.

Black is rarely seen with Hawaiian shirts but it can team up as this shirt proves. Tina bought the fabric from Hansons https://www.hansonsfabrics.com/ it was and end of roll bargain. The trousers are also from an end of roll, there was just a fraction over five feet left and the price was marked down by fifty percent.

The hat is from Fabhatrix, in Scotland's Capital, Edinburgh and Colin Johnson made the shoes.

This is yet another shirt where the black background emphasise the shirt pattern. It's a shirt that is equally effective with black trousers and hat, but here I have chosen to team it up with dark green hat, trousers and shoes.
Tina, lines up the pattern on the fabric so well you would be pushed to believe that there is a breast pocket.

The addiction knows no bounds. Some of my shirts have themes that you might find unusual in the Aloha sense. One of my favourites depicts the golden age of travel. Only the preserve of the privileged minority of course, but the fabric that my wife found and the subsequent shirt that she made from that fabric attracts many a compliment:

The planes, ships and cars from that era are all so evocative.
What you are looking at is a close up of the shirt, the buttons on the left
being the only clue that it might be a close up.

More shirts 004.JPG

Now it's looking more like a shirt. The colours work with almost any accessory, as this hat confirms:

Some time, well after this shirt was completed, but long before the novelty had worn off, we were invited to a function that wasn't really suited to wearing an Aloha shirt. Whilst I took the point, my disappointment was hard to hide. My lady gave me a knowing smile. "Don't worry Cinderella," she joked, "You shall go to the ball."

Look closely at my bow tie. My talented lady came up trumps, how lucky am I?

A new Paradise Found shirt arrived today. Good excuse to pull on a 2-3/4" Flat Brim Open Road and step out back to test it in the sun.

Shirts in great shape but its got a bit of a "Scent" and some wrinkles lol. Got a couple other shirts that could also use a freshening, so I guess I do a bit of gentle cycle washing today. Nice breezy sunny day so they get to hang on the patio to dry. Its that time of year that I need to keep several of these handy for wear

I love bright contrasty shirts, but I also have several more subdued ones. Have a couple more inbound n the mail... cant wait to see what they look like. Glad Im retired so I dont have to abide any business appropriate dress codes. Its good to wear what one wants to lol

Sultry ladies? Perish the thought.

Bowen, your comments and prayers bring joy and succour. Very much appreciated, thank you.

To you all who, like Bowen, have sent offerings of prayers for Tina's recovery from heart surgery, my lady and I express our gratitude. The lady continues to recover, albeit slowly, and just as her surgeon said, she gets bad days but they are getting less and less.
One sign that has given me hope, is her love of dressmaking has been rekindled, she is spending time in her cabin once more and that's a real joy to see.

This is a store called https://www.hansonsfabrics.com/ Hansons. Tina calls it fabric Heaven. It is where all my Aloha shirts, and a good deal more, originate. The lady, she is always a lady, will travel in a style befitting her.
For our journey to Hansons at Sturminster Newton, her carriage will be our vintage MG.

Sturminster Newton is a quintessentially old English charm of a village. After Tina has seriously damaged my wealth in Hansons Store, we shall enjoy a cream tea in one of the delightful cafe's that abound.

things_to_do_in_sturminster_newton6.png

The trip is more about therapy, taking things easy, as is her medical advice, can lead to tedium and boring. For my busy lady, that can be counter-productive, so today I shall pamper her, treat her like the lady that she is. And we are taking you lot along for the ride. (Do try and check out Hansons.)
