Fitcheck Fine creek leon 44 or 42. Which one should i choose.

Hello everyone.
I'm really wondering whether to choose buy a fine creek leon custom jacket size 42 or 44. Please help me choose which one I should get. 42 seems a bit short-sleeved and a bit tight in the chest when fully zipped.
44 feels a bit wide to me
Im 5’9 and 165lbs

The 42 fit is a very slim fit and looks too short in the arms for you.

I think the 44 will fit perfectly after its had some time to shape to your body and will be an overall better fit.

Has the 42 been worn for some time? it seems to have nice creasing in the arms compared to the 44 which looks almost like new.

Really depends how you like your fits.

yes 42 was worn by previous owner for about 2 years. it seems thicker than the 44.
Do you have any opinion on vertical length?

The 44 is too big in all dimensions, the 42 simultaneously looks too small and too big.

I would pass on both.

I'm 100% with @Peter Mackin here. Neither look even half-decent on you, neither has a redeeming quality of any kind or sort and you have absolutely no reason to consider either. You deserve much better at any price tag.

While generally too large, the 44 is of a near-coat length while the 42 is so ill-proportioned I don't even know where to start. How it is at the same time too small while looking like a size 50 from the back is beyond understanding.

At the risk of sounding mean which isn't my intention, I would have extremely hard time keeping, while never reaching for, either, even if gifted.

Agree with others, both are not a good fit.

42: arm length too short, and body width too baggy—see the folded/scrunched up leather showing on the back, that’s way too much extra fabric. Jacket is too long; it should have stopped above the belt.

44: arm length is fine but the body width is even worse and more baggy (same issue as above). Jacket is too long as well.

I’d get something else that fits if I were you. Otherwise, you’d regret it 6 months later after owning either one of these for some time.

I’m your height and weight (5’9, 160 lbs), asian/viet, and I wear a 40 in JP sizing. Not every brand from JP is flattering. Either shoulder too small or sleeve too short or chest-to-waist drop is too small.

42 looks fine.

The sleeves are shorter on this jacket. They were made this way to show off the watch. You wear a watch, so 42.

There is a thick deerskin version of this jacket, it drape better than the thick horsehide version imo.

This. I don't think either looks great. They're both too long and too wide at the bottom. The 42 is too tight in the chest and the 44 looks loose.

As a watch guy I would definitely not want my watch sticking out, and that's before we get to the watch crime sprees that have become commonplace in so many cities.

Actually the waist fits me. The chest also feels just right, but I don't understand why the back has so much extra fabric
My arms are longer than usual so it's quite difficult to choose a ready to wear jacket.
I often have suits tailored with a sleeve length of 25.2 inc.

This doesn’t look like an improvement.

And to be clear I don’t even have a ln inherent problem with extra space/folds (what’s called drape in tailoring) but that’s not what’s happening here.

I think it’s cut extra big in the back and extra small in front because as @navetsea guessed some time ago, the magazine guys behind the brand design it to wear unzipped with untucked dress shirts, hence the weird shape and hems.

It's because Fine Creek jackets tend to have terrible patterns that don't flatter most bodies. They're long and tubular and don't follow the shape of bodies well- hence the excess fabric in odd places.

Definitely the tubular pattern that makes the extra fabric scrunched up in the back. Look at where I circled in the photos, the waist is not a good fit. It should have draped closer to the body (with no extra fabric), not loosely with the extra space sticking out and the extra fabric scrunching.

Try a different brand, FCL isn’t looked kindly upon around here or StyleForum either.

because in japan I often find youtube clips about people dressing like this

especially when they like fatique/ military pants, I suppose they will wear very long tubular body jacket because it matches the rest of their "ill fitting" style... I wonder why... it's not like they are blessed with very long legs.

if you really love this jacket, then 42, some rockstar wear jacket too small with their forearm showing perhaps you can take that vibe, and perhaps the body will drape with wear, but you need to wear it with ultra casual style, like with tshirt and cargo pants or with camo pants, or straight leg jeans. wearing it with shirt and slacks like you did there doesn't work at all visual wise

The 42 reminds me of an ill-fitting Schott I tried once which was built off a bad pattern. Somehow too small and too big in various areas. It just didn't work.

44 is just too long and way too tubular.

I also noticed you said they're "custom" - don't mean to be rude, but the only custom part is being accustomed to a bad fit
