Hello friends - some of you may know my preference for Cockpit USA jackets. I have their plain non-patched “Mil-Spec” G-1 jacket which is one of my absolute favorites to wear.
I recently purchased another same one used off of eBay since I wanted a patched one to wear. My favorite airplane is...
I agree, it just looks better and a bit dressier from the front. I think the patch was bigger than I would like it to be. I think the shoulder ones are cool and are a good size without being too flashy.
So I finally decided to remove the chest patch since I was on the fence about it from early on. I left the shoulder patches on. I think I like the jacket better overall! There are stitch holes and impression from the patch though. Any ideas on how to make the residual impression go away?

Agreed about the rank and awards! I would also add aviator wings to this list of no-nos.
From a purely aesthetic perspective, what are your thoughts between the two versions of the jacket? I kind of want to remove the chest patch for aesthetic purposes but am worried about leaving the stitching...
I currently own this modified Cockpit USA G-1 sans mouton collar with patches.
I am wondering if it’s worth buying the same jacket sans patches? $740 for a new jacket that is almost the same is steep. Sometimes I think my jacket would be better without the chest patch but am afraid of...
Alright…need to be talked off the ledge here. Someone on ebay posted the same jacket but the version without the patches. I am feeling tempted to get it but I already have the patched version, Cockpit non-patched G-1, the Cockpit 100 mission G-1, and a Cockpit non-patched USAF 21st Century A-2.
Hello All! I am in the process of downsizing my outerwear collection am deciding between which one of these two black waxed jackets pictured to keep. None of these jackets are used for riding.
My other waxed jackets consist of the Belstaff Racemaster in navy blue and the Barbour Beaufort in...
Decided to leave it as is for now! I can see this as a go to in the Spring and early Fall since it doesn’t have the mouton collar. Thanks everyone for the input!
Eastman Leather WWII Type A-2 Size 44 XL (Extra Long) - Monarch contract. Beautiful horsehide. Asking $849 OBO.
If you are looking up the Eastman Leather A-2 contract reproductions, the quality and value of these jackets goes without saying.
This is a well but gently worn and broken in Monarch...
Thanks Thor! Yes, it looks like Cockpit added an aging effect. I put up another newer one and it does standout indeed compared to the others.
Do you think it would look better with the chest patch removed completely? My only hesitation is the stitching holes. Otherwise I still think it’s a nice...
So the jacket just arrived! I think I would only consider removing the chest patch as the other two patches are smaller and I like their look.
However, I think the chest patch still looks nice. It is larger than I thought it would be (probably in the 4-4.5 inch range). I also could see myself...
