I made my first hat back in 2007 after making my own hat block using pieces of 2"x4", seven inches long, after shaping the wood that I glued together, I covered the wood with autobody filler and sanded that to a smooth finish. My first hat turned out good the only problem was the hat was too small for me, it was maybe a 7 1/4", I wear a 7 3/8". After I received my Indy hat from Steve Delk, I increase the size of my block by adding more fiberglass and sanding, then I made another hat. I have used a lot of my time just reading and learning about hat making. Last year I made a total of 6 hats and I have sold 5 so far the fifth hat was a special order. I am selling my hats on Ebay and I am making one for someone out in Vegas, a black fedora with a rainbow hat band, should be fun just making the hat.
Always a student, never a master hatter, there is always something new to learn. Send me a PM if you want me to make your next hat.
Hat size 7 3/8", 23 1/4", 59 CM, Busted Hats
