That gives even more reason to worry :) I'd highly recommend buying something that fits you rather than butchering an existing jacket... -

Wouldn't a wood / carpenter glue sort of thing be better than quick bonding glue? Leather tends to react differently to adhesives...

No quick fix but it can be fixed. You gotta redo the stitch. As for the smell, leave it in the sun for 10 days.
