Sometimes searching and finding an existing thread helps. I would suggest this one https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/highwayman-zip-sleeve-highwayman-database.99955/
Then post the question in that thread; after reading it, if it was not covered in the thread itself.
To me that more "tan" jacket appears like a standard "Bootlegger" (using Aero's term.)
From my original post, a long time back I think this is what they called it (original owner, purchaser) -- but it's a unique "2 jacket" mix, front of a Detroit & rear of the Oakland. (using the SB terms)
As indicated on March 26th 2016....
:)
That said, I had completely forgotten about this jacket, from ~ 9 years ago. I really like the design and even the Bison leather, which, in honesty I found a little "different" to wear. It's a leather that didn't really seem like it was going to change...
To the OP this was much easier 5-10 years back. Seemed like Aeros, of sizes 42-46 were all over ebay, and often $350 - 700. Since 2020, prices have shot up, and they have become much more recognized, especially in Asia, so there tend to be a lot of people who purchase these and flip them -...
Very well said!!
Plus it simply looks awesome on you.
Glad you didn't; give up on this one. It' has a history & a story! My apologies that I ever tried to steer you a different direction. The smell will eventually subside, but it's his history you are wearing. :)
I seem to have a PNW boot habit going. One pair of Nicks is out for a re-sole so those are not shown. Also the one, single pair of Red Wings left are the 2013 Iron Rangers closest to where I'm sitting.
If in Europe, reach out to Aero directly to ask what repairs they could do.
100% agree the smell is likely reason enough to cut your losses and move it along.
If purchased via ebay and the odor (guessing either smoke or musty odor) was not disclosed, I would not modify anything but immediately...
^^ You'll never regret going with White's or Nick's after having Red Wings.
Being a first time, I would either do the White's via Baker's Boots in Oregon (customer service is a little better along with return/re-size policies) or just skip right over to Nick's and work with them directly...
