We've discussed that we don't post as many follow up pictures as we probably should, so here's my addition. Acquired last Fall, has been worn through a couple of rainstorms, but since I rotate through a lot of jackets, leather and otherwise, it's not worn anywhere near every day. (although it continues to be my favorite and is worn more than anything else I own) The first picture of the full jacket is very close to the true color, although none of the shots really show the depth of color well. I really like this first batch of Vincenza, and the newest hides seem to be more similar to this than some of the smoother ones in between. (although the premier HWM in Vincenza Seal that I own is no slouch... all of the Vincenza looks terrific, but there are differences between batches) Anyway, photos:

Great thread Chris. Maybe we need to start a jacket evo thread? I would love to see Sloans racer in the tumbled cordovan.

I'm totally ok with that... I knew how to edit a thread title on the old site but I may need some bartender help, can't seem to find right option...

Chris, this is a great thread. I am so easy on my jackets, the only one of mine that shows any degree of patina at all is my russet jerky HH Aero Bronco A-2 that was five years old when I bought it from another TFL member awhile back! ;) Well, maybe my FQHH Teamster. Unlike your Sheene, my russet Vicenza Sheene was smooth and still is since I have only worn it a few times thus far. The main virtue of the Vicenza IMO is the fantastic drape that far exceeds anything else, with the exception of Aero's veg tanned goatskin. Anyhow Vicenza vs. goat - it's all good. I still think that if I were allowed to keep only one leather jacket, it would be my Sheene that is very similar to yours.

This ELMC Californian in walnut is a nice follow up and I had some nice close ups. I would think these are the same horsehide. They do some treatment as a matter of production, but it had not be worn much. I have worn it because I really like it. I had been thinking about such a thread.

I agree, looks awfully similar, I think much of the Italian HH is all coming from the same place.

It does indeed look very similar! Is the Vincenza the same weight? I always see it described as medium weight, but to me the ELMC is very thin...

Here is the Californian in black if anyone wants to see it:

The Vincenza is definitely not thin, it's still very substantial. Obviously the manufacturer could skive the hide to their desired weight, or they could be buying identically processed leather but spec'd to different thicknesses.

The ELMC looks to be lighter than the Aero. The Californian is light makes for a great throw on.

Here is the ELMC in action.

I like the small collar. It does have a broken in feel and look. Some of the panels have a flat look, but this jacket looks just like the jacket on their webpage.

TM, your ELMC jacket looks amazing!!!

The ELMC hide and the Vicenza are different. The Vicenza is thicker/heavier -- mid-weight. The ELMC hide is lighter -- I wouldn't call it light-weight, but it is lighter than the Vicenza.

Carlos, does the finish wear on your ELMC? Mine has some but not like the BKs. What is it they do to the jackets to distress them? I was not sure I would like it, but I do.

No, no finish wear at all... Saying that i haven't worn it as much as others.
Because it's not water resistant at all and is very thin i really just use it as a light summer jacket.

Your jacket is superb! I own both black and Havana Brown. Black has a black dye base, so it will not develop wear and patina to the extent the Havana Brown and American Walnut will, but it is given the Eastman TimeWear treatment in subdued form at the factory, as are all the ELMC leather jackets, and even the black develops a nice vintage look over time.

I plan on posting new images of the latest ELMC Californians now in our stock this weekend to our dedicated History Preservation Associates affiliate thread, which includes the revised long fittings with slightly longer sleeve lengths.

Regarding weight, the leather remains right about 3 ounces; I wouldn't ever deem 3 ounces as light weight, but medium weight seems quite fitting.

The ELMC Californian has risen to the top in our sales, nearing the A-2, and the customer reception is overwhelmingly ecstatic and includes a few notables in the film and TV industry, with Havana Brown eclipsing all other colors in popularity.

It's certainly possible, if not likely. I saw one of the BK Liberty hides on a jacket very recently while I was wearing my ELMC Californian in Havana Brown, and the owner of the Liberty and I, in our opinions, both found no discernible differences that could be attributed to anything beyond normal fluctuations between batches and differing specs. requested by individual makers.
