An absolute bargain at £50 and its a keeper but I’m curious as to how old it is. Can anyone help please? I removed the badges (New York Pleasant Hill Motorcycle Sergeant).
Just spotted an Eastman 1944 pattern Devon fleece in Sheffield. £1100 including postage -size 6 pit to pit 23” it’s in a shop called Jojos General Store 553 Ecclesall Road Sheffield.
I realise it’s a long shot with the missing pocket label but it was cheap and it struck me as having age and high quality. The zipper is heavy duty and has pullers inside and outside with a leather fob attached to the inside pull. The leather attached to the outer puller dropped off in the wash...
A friend asked me if Kerouac wore a sealskin jacket in ‘On The Road’. I told him I hadn’t read the book but the seal probably referred to the colour of his ‘bomber jacket’ rather than the source of the leather. I speculated that as there was plenty of military surplus about it might have been an...
I came across vintage advertising for this company on eBay did a bit of research and found they began in 1953 in LA California 91744. Then I found a ‘B3’ with their label on eBay. Did they make quality stuff? - past tense as I believe they’ve folded. Here’s the ‘B3’ it’s not an accurate replica...
A style I’ve never seen - must be as rare as rocking horse droppings in the desert and I nearly bought it - but I’ve got one or two too many jackets. I’ve inspected it and the leather is in excellent condition.

While searching my clothes rail for my 40’s Hercules halfbelt I found this one - I’d forgotten about it - just stashed it fast some time ago before it was spotted by the ‘fashion police’ (my wife Liz) sayer of those fateful words ‘You’re not going out of the house with me wearing that!’.
Anyway...
I’m trying to work out roughly when my latest jacket was made. It’s got the Ostmann Luftwaffe label, shiny zips, pleated back and brown hide overdyed black. It was a bargain at £150 on greedbay UK
Can anyone throw any light on - Why this label?
I may have paid too much for this old Aero Café Racer at £180 eBay U.K. but I’ve been after one for some time. I’m intrigued by the Thunderbay label. I’ve read on old threads on TFL that this label was sometimes used to signify an ‘apprentice made’...
I’m having to sell a few surplus coats and jackets to clear my garage prior to repurposing it into a wet room/spare bedroom for when I’m too old to climb the stairs . U.K. postage only sorry.
Credit to Peacoat for his thread which helped me to hunt down and identify it in the first place...
