Anyone know anything about this hatmaker Daquino?

I believe you'll have a bigger range of choice if you buy a D'Aquino hat on the ETSY store than going to the physical store.
I'm sure that's true, Joao, but I'm not looking for any particular hat at the moment and thought it might be more interesting looking round the actual shop - one might just take my fancy, who knows?

And I'll be wandering around Lisbon anyway looking for 'points of interest'; what could be more interesting than a hat shop? ;-)

Well, I have a few places in mind, not necessarily in order of priority: beercafés, Italian restaurants, Fado bars, Porto sampling bars (that is essential), as well as museums, galleries, castles etc. That should keep me going for three days.

Any suggestions from those familiar with Lisbon gratefully received....

Hi Dave, I was wondering if you could post a closeup of where the ends of the brim binding meet. My brim binding was done with an overlay. Yours looks neater.

Here's a close up. There appears to be some overlap, but as you noted, it's done quite neatly.

Thanks! That does look very nice. Much better than my first hat from them. Lets hope they'll do my next hat as nice as they did yours.

overlay on mine is actually smaller than I rembered. Funny how the mind plays tricks.....JavaDave's is a bit neater though.

hello gents !
just received my first d'aquino hat. nice little lid ! having a bit of trouble shaping its brim, though (as some of you may have noticed, i posted a thread in that regard). real bang for the buck ! beaver felt, dark Brown, with Brown ribbon (surprinsingly nice quality to it). sweatband and liner quite ok ( the leather used for the sweatband leaves me puzzled as it doesn't feel like anything i've had before... almost synthetic-like, but not in a bad way... ; the liner on the other hand, although properly assembled, is a bit strangely sewn, with a seam that runs diagonnaly through the crown...).
the felt itself is real light and floppy, and it has a little roughness to it. the pouncing doesn't seems to be as fine as for the other beaver hats i have (made by Northwest hats in Oregon). And it's by far the darkest Brown felt i have.
sizing is a bit off as it's a bit too large (i ordered a 58 cm, which is what i got as the label reads, but it does run big. Hope some heavy wearing will solve the problem...)
overall a nice and unexpensive little hat that i plan to wear a lot ! might probably order another one made of rabbit felt so i can see how differnt the felts are (rabbit come even more unexpensive, and i think a nice rabbit fedora without a liner could do just swell for spring and summer)... i'll post a few pics soon as get a hold of my camera.

So I ordered another hat from Luisa in January, this one a red fedora with a 2.5 inch raw edged brim for my wife. It arrived in February.

I ordered it sans ribbon, so that I could finish it myself. After scouring Etsy and eBay for just the right ribbon, I purchased and curled some patriotic grosgrain.

And attached it to the hat. My wife found a vintage WWII Allied Victory pin on eBay to complete the job.

Wa and La, my version of Marvel's Agent Carter hat.

Hmmm. Sounds like Luisa should get an email from me. Does she do thin ribbons, and will she deliver the hat open crown? I'm thinking a dark or medium brown Open Road style (you know, the kind of colors the OR doesn't come in any more), high straight open crown, matching brim binding and matching thin ribbon. And how much more is beaver?
